Today is the last day of the summer meetings for the MSUrbanStem cohort. Next time I will see all these folks will be on September 17, after a few weeks of school (unless there is a strike). I still feel a lot of uncertainty about the school year. I have to plan for my KAM and AP Calc, write math contests, and think about how to implement this work from the summer during the school year. I'm not really sure how, but we will take it one day at a time.

I am thinking about a focus of Inquiry Based Learning for my ImagineIT project for MSUrbanStem. With IBL, I am imagining a classroom where I give students just enough scaffolding, axioms, etc and then it is their responsibility and project to go up to the board and prove things for their peers. We progress as a class according to the pace that students can show and prove things. I am hoping they can come up with their own extensions to what is happening in class
I am teaching an advanced, proof-based class this year and AP Calculus; I think I can at least pilot this in my advanced class. This is my first blog post. I hope to use this site to show some of the math things I do. Check out my About section for a bit more about me.
